The Courtneys
The Courtneys
The Courtneys drift back to the sound of the early ’90s while reflecting a fun-in-the-sun west coast mentality. They deliver a special blend of fuzzy slacker pop that draws comparisons to Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, and The Clean. The musicianship is tight, the hooks are sharp, and the songcraft is dynamic. Courtney Loove’s dreamy guitar riffs add a timeless pop element to the punk backbone formed by Sydney Koke’s heavy driving basslines, and drummer/lead singer Jen Twynn Payne’s snare kick combos. Their music videos have aired on MuchMusic and Rage, and the track “90210” was featured in an episode of MTVs Awkward in May 2013.
Jay Som
Jay Som
Jay Som represents the musical vision of San Francisco singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Melina Duterte. Jay Som – a moniker that Duterte randomly found via an online baby name generator meaning “Victory Moon” – reissues Turn Into this Fall, a collection of finished and unfinished songs written, recorded, and mixed between March 2014-October 2015. Originally uploaded to Bandcamp last year after Duterte had a few too many glasses of wine at Thanksgiving dinner, Turn Into is an exciting glimpse of what’s to come for Jay Som on her debut album in 2017.
Little Junior
Little Junior are a punk band that can't help but write pop songs. They met in middle school and still haven't outgrown their teenage angst. Their music is sarcastic and self-deprecating; Little Junior often sound like brats but at least they know it.
