Kwesi K
Kwesi K
Folk music is what the people sing. Big Mamma Thornton brought us Rock n Roll. Sam Cooke helped define soul. The storytelling of Grandmaster Flash helped lay the foundation of Hip Hop. These are all genres that have their roots in American Folk Music. Like the great artists before him, Kwesi K continues the legacy of Folk Music. The Alaskan-Ghanaian-Ohioian songwriter uses contemporary stylings that pull from the diasporas of American heritage. Soulful and simple, Kwesi K draws his listeners in with colorful story lines and a melodic fervor. Kwesi is a true American folk musician celebrating the history of this county's ancestors and their music
Maitland
Maitland
Years of brotherhood, self-proclaimed and genetic, have created the Indie/folk/rock band Maitland. Pulling influences from Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, and woodsy expeditions, Maitland has transformed from a minimalist folk duo into a rock quartet. With the release of the band’s first album, “(from a cabin in the woods),” Josh Hines (vocals/guitar/songwriter), toured subway systems in the North East cities like Boston, Philadelphia, New York, etc. Once it was time to make more noise, Josh Hines invited his brother, Alex Hines (bass/vocals), Evan Moffitt (guitar), and Adam Shumski (drums) to the stage. Capitalizing on the versatility of the folk iterations, Maitland’s live performances express backwoods rustic elements paired with driving percussion and unforgettable melodies. Evan Moffitt creates a comfortable blanket of atmosphere to lay over Maitland’s three part harmonies, haunting falsettos, and dynamic percussion.
Anthony D'Amato
Anthony D'Amato
Anthony D'Amato first came to national attention with 2010's ‘Down Wires,’ which he recorded with a single microphone in his college bedroom. The album earned attention everywhere from NPR and The New York Times to Paste and American Songwriter, along with a nod from The World Cafe for their emerging artist series “Next" (past artists include Fleet Foxes and Dawes). He followed it up with another home recording, 'Paper Back Bones,' which BBC Scotland named one of the Best Americana Albums of 2012. Dates with Pete Yorn, Ben Kweller, Josh Ritter, Rhett Miller and more ensued, in addition to performances at the iconic Newport Folk Festival and Glasgow's Celtic Connections.

In 2013, D'Amato signed with New West Records, home to Steve Earle and Patty Griffin among others, and headed to The Great North Sound Society in Maine with producer Sam Kassirer (Josh Ritter, Langhorne Slim) and members of Bon Iver and Megafaun to record his studio/label debut. The album is due out in summer 2014.
