York Street Hustle
York Street Hustle
Each week, ten musicians arrive in the parking lot of an old funeral home in South Philadelphia where, one by one, they unload their old tube amps and vintage instruments. Once inside, the classic sounds of the 1960s are reinvigorated, reenergized and reborn. Legends, like Stevie, Aretha and the Four Tops, as well as lesser-known artists including Donny Hathaway, Arthur Conley and Betty Everett are given new life. Their repertoire now spans well over 50 songs including more than a decade worth of Detroit, Memphis and Chicago soul.

In three short years the York Street Hustle has gone from filling tiny South Street bars to repeatedly selling out Philadelphia's World Cafe Live. And with the emergence of contemporary soul artists like Adele, Amy Winehouse and Sharon Jones, the band's appeal transcends generations. This is not your typical Motown "wedding band." With grit, sweat, and attention to detail, The York Street Hustle is the Northeast's premier soul tribute ensemble.
